Green Bench IPA – 6.8% ABV

This our “bench-mark” beer. A medium bodied ale with aromas of soft citrus and earthy pine combined with very subtle notes of tropical fruit. This highly hopped American style IPA leaves your pallet with a lingering dry and bitter finish.

Skyway Wheat – 4.5% ABV

Considered the “flagship bridge” of Florida, the Sunshine Skyway stretches 431 feet at its peak, and is over four miles long, connecting St. Petersburg to Terra Ceia through Hillsborough County waters. The impressive structure was recognized on The Travel Channel as #3 in their “Top 10 Bridges” in the World special. Equally as beautiful to behold is our hop forward American Wheat Ale, packed with four different varieties of US grown hops for a citrusy and pine-like flavor.

Spring Bloom IIPA – 9% ABV *Bronze Medal – Experimental Category – 2014 US Open Beer Championshiop*

Heavily hopped double IPA brewed with Citra and Sorachi Ace.

Sunshine City IPA – 6.8% ABV

In celebration of our beautifully sunny city, this IPA was designed to be a bright as the warmest summer day. Packed with hop flavor and aroma, we double dry hop this beer with equal parts of Mosaic, Citra and Azacca, for an intensely tropical profile reminiscent of tangerine, nectar, papaya, peach, kiwi, and pineapple.

Les Grisettes – 4% ABV ABV

We brought back the first beer of our 100% Brettanomyces line, Les Grisettes. At under 4%, Les Grisette is a traditional style farmhouse ale brewed with Spelt, Buckwheat, Rye, and Oats, fermented on our house mixed culture of wild yeast. Grisettes were originally brewed for coal miners in the Hainaut region of Wallonia, Belgium. The name refers to the “gray” garments the women wore that delivered the beer to the miners. They were known as, “Les Grisettes.”

Stay Dry Stout – 5% ABV

A traditional Irish Dry Stout, Stay Dry is a pun. In St. Petersburg it is difficult to “stay dry.” Our weather is either too hot and humid to avoid a constant sweat, or our tropical storms maintain a torrential downpour rolling in off the Gulf of Mexico. This beer is light in body, black in color, and packed with malt forward flavors reminiscent of chocolate, dark caramel, and coffee.

Maximo Milk Stout -5% ABV

Named after its 19-th Century owner, Maximo Park is a beautiful waterfront park along Boca Ciega Bay. In addition to the boardwalk, playgrounds, bike and nature trails, observation tower, and boat ramps, Maximo Park boasts a 70-acre archaeological site and an 18-hole Tocobaga Disc Golf Course, named after the Native American Tocabaga tribe that once resided there. Our sessionable Milk Stout is dark, sweet, full-bodied, and slightly roasty with notes of caramel, coffee, and soft espresso.

Middle Eastern Brown Ale – 6% ABV

This beer was created for The Beer Project at St. Petersburg’s Museum of Fine Arts. We were tasked with making something inspired by the painting “The Choice Rug”. We added Yemeni spices, dates, raisins and allepo peppers to craft this unique, savory beer.

Surrealist IPA – 7% ABV

Surrealism is an artistic movement that attempts to express the workings of the subconscious and is characterized by fantastic imagery and incongruous juxtaposition of subject matter: dreamlike; hypnagogic; non sequitur; erroneous; solecistic; and inexact. Such are the qualities of Salvador Dali’s paintings that can be enjoyed at the beautiful Salvador Dali Museum in downtown St. Petersburg. We at Green Bench took note of Dali’s surrealistic art , delicately combining the tart, acidic, and puckering qualities of a sour ale with the tropical, bitter, and dry characteristics of an American IPA to create Surrealist IPA.

Saison de Banc Vert – 6.5% ABV *Gold Medal Winner – Wood/Oak Aged Pale Category – 2014 US Open Beer Championship*

Saisons, or Farmhouse Ales, were originally brewed as a summer seasonal in the French-speaking region of Belgium. Dry and crisp, our “Green Bench Saison” is packed with fruity esters similar to citrus fruits and spicy, peppercorn-like phenols from our farmhouse yeast strain.

Happy Hermit Pale Ale -4.9 ABV

Silas Dent lived a simple and happy life on Cabbage Key in a hut made of palm fronds, surrounded by mangroves and wildlife with no running water and no electricity. In 1948 Dent was featured in LIFE magazine, who named him “The Happy Hermit of Cabbage Key.” It was said that Dent could forecast the weather, calculate the temperature, and commune with Poseidon himself. Before his death at the age of 76 in 1952, Dent claimed that “civilization is too dangerous.” Our Happy Hermit Pale Ale is a sessionable, hop forward approach to the style that is a perfect match for a breezy St. Petersburg afternoon, and like Silas, is one of a kind.

De Soto Low Micro IPA – 2.3% ABV

Fort De Soto, the largest park within the Pinellas County Park System, consists of 1,136 acres made up of five interconnected islands. These keys are home to beach plants, mangroves, wetlands, palm hammocks, hardwoods and scores of native plants. The park is also home to more than 328 species of birds with new species being added every year. Between 1,000 A.D. and 1,500 A.D. Fort De Soto was inhabited by the Tocobaga Indians. On May 30, 1539 a well-known Spanish explorer, Hernando De Soto, landed on these shores. De Soto Low is a take on a new style that we dub, Micro IPA. Lower alcohol than both American IPAs and Session IPAs, our Micro IPA is only 2.3% ABV but is packed full of hop aroma, flavor, and bitterness. De Soto Low is brewed with generous amounts of Simcoe, Columbus, and Citra hops at 45 IBUs.

Demens’ Black IPA – 7.3% ABV

Peter Demens, a noble Russian aristocrat, brought the first train to St. Petersburg via the Orange Belt Railway on June 8, 1888 carrying eight empty freight cars and one passenger. Naming our city after his beloved birthplace, St. Petersburg, Russia, Demens is remembered through our daring and aggressive IPA that is dark, yet assertively hoppy.

Greenhouse Double Stout – 7% ABV

The Greenhouse is a collaboration between the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of St. Petersburg. It is your one-stop facility for starting or growing your local business. The Greenhouse provides business counseling, training, networking, growth or specialized assistance and access to capital and credit for startups. For years the Greenhouse has provided help to many of the local small businesses that are helping to fuel our local culture and economy. Before doing all of this, the Greenhouse being an historic building in downtown St. Petersburg, was once one of the first schools in the city. Our American Stout is a bold interpretation of the style, but at only 7% ABV the intense full bodied, coffee, bitter chocolate, and bitter roast elements of this beer can be enjoyed several times.

Saison de Banc Noir – 6% ABV

By combining the rustic, peppery flavors of our farmhouse yeast strain with the complex dark fruit notes of roasted wheat and dark Belgian candi syrups, we’ve created an intricately delicate “Black Saison” that contains ornate notes of raisins, dark grape, and peppercorns.

Your Silent Captain (Bottle)- 10.4% ABV

The first and largest shuffleboard club int eh world, named the St. Petersburg Mirror Lake Park Shuffleboard Club, was formed in 1924 by six shuffleboard players. Today, 90 years later, there are over 300 members of the club and you’d be hard pressed to find an open court out of the 82 that they house (eight hidden…) on any given Friday night. Veterans of the classic game understand that every single shot made is dictated by “Your Silent Captain,” the scoreboard. This Imperial Stout was slightly acidified with lactobacillus before being fermented with over one pound of cherries per gallon of beer prior to being aged for two months in Apple Brandy Barrels.

Tequila Barrel Aged Mail Order (Bottle) – 10.2% ABV

This is our base Russian Imperial Stout that we aged in Tequila barrels for 2 months imparting vanilla, honey and subtle caramelized banana notes.

Le Banc Belge – 7.6% ABV (Bottle)

Many of our beers are hop forward and assertively bitter and aromatic: we love beers with a lot of hops. So we decided to “bench-ify” a Belgian beer. Le Banc Belge (The Belgian Bench) is a wondrous joining of these two. Packed with flavors of melon, citrus, pine, and peppered lemon, this Belgian IPA finishes dry and rustic.
